OBJECTIVES
- I want to be able to help others and teach others
- Work as a team and help each others to improve their skills
- I want to be able to start and learn tackling
- I want to join the after school training and train with the guys team

A Rugby Ball
In the past I’ve only played rugby a few times and I only knew the simple rules. No passing the ball forward and when you get touched you have to put the ball between your legs.
The first day of training we started doing simple things and learnt how to pass the ball properly, backwards, how to catch and the best part was how to tackle the opposite team and we tackled the tackling pads.
It was fun but I thought tackling would be easier than I thought but it was actually more complicated than it looked.

Just Being Me
As the weeks past we did more tackling and we also learnt how to fall. Yes, I never knew we had to know how to fall correctly when you play rugby. I found that the most challenging part of the training because it’s very hard to do two things at the same time, watching where you’re going while running with the ball and when somebody tackles you have to think which side you have to fall. We practiced a few times in partners and I did it wrong a few times which did hurt a bit. But then I slowly learnt and finally got it right in the end. I was proud in the end even though I ended up with a few bruises on my hips.

Catching!
It was really hot and the grass was really dry, which made it worse because every time we fell it would be very itchy and it irritated our skin. But that did not bother me and stopped me from practicing and learning new sport.
Everybody who signed up for this activity had never played rugby or touch rugby before, so it was quite difficult and everybody had to work together and help each other. Me, myself I think I learnt faster than most of the other girls, so sometimes I help out during the small games we have and lead the team I was in. Some games I’ve managed to score a few try’s.

After the tackle
After a few weeks, a few girls including myself were invited to join the after school touch rugby training with the guys and the Pattaya rugby team. I was really scared to play when I arrived at the pitch because everybody was really tall and big and it was quite scary. But in the end I joined anyways. In the end it was actually fun and I enjoyed it, I had more of an idea how touch rugby is actually played because playing with the girls in school was different because nobody had experience and we were all running really slow, and by playing with the profession has helped with more. It was hard to catch the ball because the boys threw it really hard but after a few times of failing to catch i’ve manage to not drop the ball at all.

Touch Rugby With The Guys
It was tough because we (the girls) don’t get the ball much, probably because the guys think that we were not good enough, but in the end we proved to them that we can play because I’ve manage to score a try and this showed that I was a fast runner and I was able to think and act fast after I got the ball.
Overall it was challenging and quite difficult but most importantly I had fun and I got a lot out of it. I know the rules and the techniques. I think I have achieved my objective successfully because I did help others a lot and in the end I had the chance to practice with the guys. To develop my skills more I think I should join this activity again and maybe after that I could run my own “rugby training for beginner’s” activity. This would help me to improve my skills of teaching and leadership and it may also benefit others.
