ICS Tri-Sports Tournament

The Regent’s School had been invited to the tri-sports in ICS (International Community School) in Bangkok. This tournament includes three different team sports; Basketball, football and volleyball. Only 12 students were selected for this tournament, and all 12 students must be involved in all three sports.

Rebound

On the 29th of May on a Friday, all 12 students from the Regent’s school, including myself left the campus at 9am. When we arrived, everybody got changed and started warming up. It was girls basketball and boys football.
Our first match was against a school from Chaing Mai (north of Thailand). This game was really close because the scores weren’t that far apart. But in the end we managed to stay strong and keep our scores up. We also won the 2nd and 3rd game. Our last game was against ICS, which we lost, but this time the score was not really far apart comparing to the score we had during senior FOBISSEA in February.

After the basketball game we had to play volleyball. In my opinion I think we did pretty good, even though we lost. This was because we never practice volleyball and we don’t even have a proper team. The score weren’t far apart, so I think if we had practice at least once a week, we might have had a better chance of winning.

Blocking the shoot

Blocking the shoot

On Saturday we had to leave the campus at 7am.  I found it difficult to wake up in the morning because I was still tired from basketball on Friday.
In our first game, for the first half, everyone was tired and was not motivated. When it was the 2nd half, I managed to score a goal!
For football, overall we lost all the games, but again the scores were not far apart, so if we had more practice we could have done better.

Overall from this tournament, we came third place. The score of all sports were added up in total, from both girls and boys. This tournament was based on team sports. We did best in basketball for girls.
From this tournament I think our team have communicated well. We worked well as a team, we cared for each other when somebody gets hurt, and we help each other out. I had forgotten to cut my nails and it was actually risk taking. I managed to break 2 nails during the basketball game and it was

deep and painful. But I didn’t want to let the team down, so I didn’t tell anybody and continued to play. This shows that I was taking a risk because it could have ripped even more deeper.
I think my fitness level have increase so much more from the past few months. I was able to last the whole game

without having to sub. There was one time when I feel flat on my back, it was painful, but I didn’t want to give up, so I stood up and continued playing.

The day we had to play football, the sun was really strong. This was challenging because our team haven’t practice football since term 1, and we haven’t been in this heat for ages. Nobody gave up, we all fought with the heat and humidity. The football games was challenging because the other teams practices 2 times a week and they were really good. But this didn’t put our team down, and we always had our hopes up high because we knew that we were a good team and we can work well together. For volleyball, we did not win. But we did pretty good, knowing that we never have practiced as a team before. I think everybody worked well

Football

as a team because we passed the ball to each other and gave each other a chance to score or to shoot.

What I’ve learn from this tournament is that, for the team to become more stronger we need to find more time to practice, especially for football and volleyball. Also if there is any disagreements between some people in our own team, we should speak up and discuss it rather than just letting it out on the field. My strength for this tournament would be my fitness level and how I managed to score in football (the only goal our team got for football). My weakness would be my accuracy in scoring. I am aware of this because I had many chances to score in both football and basketball but I missed quite a lot. For me to improve, I have to do a lot of practice during my free time.

ESAC Basketball Tournament

On the 2nd on April, on a Saturday, there was a small basketball tournament that our school organized. It was against three other schools, St.Andrews, I.S.E and G.I.S.The Team, before our game

The tournament started early at 8.30am. A few people from our team wasn’t able to make it, therefore made our team smaller which means we had less substitutes. This still didn’t make the team thinking we would lose. Everybody was confident and was ready to win. For the past two school terms my level of fitness had been a problem for me. But in this tournament I was able to last long in the games, and I hardly needed to substitute.

I think I have improved a lot compared to the other basketball games in the past. I was able to jump higher and was able to steal the ball for the other team more often. I was able to think fast and pass the ball fast when I know that I wouldn’t be able to score. Our teams communication was extremely good, everybody passed the ball more often and helped each other all the time. Even though sometimes the game can be too rough, but in the end everybody apologized which shows that it wasn’t on purpose and that we all cared how other people felt.

Everybody played fair, and followed all the rules. It was a successful tournament and we did win in the end. The only improvement I think both me and the team needs to improve is our shooting skills. We got many chances to score but we miss it quite a lot. There is going to be another tournament in term 3, and hopefully everyone will improve their shooting skill, so we would win this another tournament.
